Think of people whos' first name is Richard, David or Tom. Pick one. Think of all the people you can think of by that name.
Keep thinking
Okay time's up. Now ask yourself. Why were most of the names either TV or film stars?
Makes you wonder what really influences our lives doesn't it?
My legendary Hollywood career wouldn't have been possible without my first name.
ReplyDeleteI don't count, I've never been into movies and movie stars all that much.
ReplyDeleteOkay time's up. Now ask yourself. Why were most of the names either TV or film stars?
ReplyDeleteMost of them have common names like the rest of us.
Feynman, Kahn, Edison...guess I'm just a geeky scientist ;-)
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, my first thoughts were Tom Cashin, a friend then David of David and Goliath, and finally Richard the Lion Hearted.
ReplyDeleteThat is no indication though I have escaped the influence of hollywood rock star media hype. I just can never remember their names. I have to ask my wife all the time,"They a singer?" Or, "who's that bimbo?" Just last night I heard something about Jessica Simpson and had to get my wife to fill me in on the details. Apparently she's pregnant. Wow, now there is something unusual - a pregnant woman.
David St. Hubbins wasn't a movie star.
ReplyDeleteGraves you lie! He was too.
ReplyDeleteCrum old age must be setting in then.
Billy I know you don't give a crap
Tom we don't know your real name so how would we know?
And Stu I'd expect that from you.
Snark aside, it's a good point. We go through life immersed in media hype, celebrity "news" and advertising. Films and TV heavily involve all three. Their influence has to be massive.
