While everybody's focus has been on the Gulf oil gusher MSM missed another example of BP's brash greed and ignoring safety when our Alaska pipeline sprung a leak dumping 100,000 gallons on the environment. The pipeline is co-owned by BP although it does not have BP's name on it.
On Tuesday, Pump Station 9, at Delta Junction on the 800-mile pipeline, busted. Thousands of barrels began spewing an explosive cocktail of hydrocarbons after "procedures weren't properly implemented" by BP operators, say state inspectors. "Procedures weren't properly implemented" is, it seems, BP's company motto.
In digging into this story I find that anyone who worked for BP was encouraged to gloss over any safety measures and anyone bringing up safety violations was given a nice bonus then transfered to another BP facility in another part of the country on the condition they not speak of the violations. If that was not acceptable to the whistle blower the company would investigate the employee's background in an effort to smear their credibility or find any dirt that could be used against them. Nothing like bribery and blackmail as a business model.
The issue with BP is process safety. Something they have ignored time and time again. This is the third incident starting with the Texas City refinery fire in 2005 that killed 15 workers.
If BP designed cars!
I had a bit more to this post but this connection is running as slow as dial up tonight.
Keep your drums upright.

Isn't it fun? BP deserves to be bought out by the Chinese.
I've noticed that BP is quietly selling off it's assets. I expect Exxon or one of the other companies to buy it in the next year or so. That is if there's anything left.
I note that the Russians basically took back their interest in the company over the Russian agreement which was 25% of BP's income.
You know, to us BP is totally inept. They screw up everything they touch but they have been a total success to their stockholders.
I am very concerned that BP is going to skip on us as costs mount! You can bet they are working on it. They will form new corporations and shift assets around to screw the people of the Gulf, all taxpayers, and America, file bankruptcy then they will do this again the inept asses they are.
Good Morning Mr.Demeur!
Well ... a very frank posting. I know the score ...especially how pay- off's work, but I cant elaborate on it, there is much accuracy to your view of all this though. Another thing .... you are correct about the asset sell off scam .... but as I relentlessly said in the past ... we must expect this. One of the thing's that I suspect .... is that a great deal of the contracting to clean up this oil, will be tax write off's, and since we have this new forming global investment's arena (what I termed in my posting as corporate legislated and force fed globalization) no one company can be legally bound or responsible to any one nation. Also look at tax code's, and how legislation work's and who proposes and write's the code's. I frankly unfortuantely after a closer examination of this ... dont see how BP would truely be financially accountable, not unless they just will out of kindness, or deciding they were wrong and taking responsibility. What I wonder though, is say a year down the road ... how will American tax payer's feel when they actually find out where the money came from to pay off the Gulf Oil Crisis? because the money has to come from somewhere's and what BP weasles out of through code's, write off's or whatever .... someone will have to pay.
Thank You Sir ....
My compliment's to Mr. Average Patriot as well here on his comment's, because frankly ... this is exactly how the game work's. I dont know the oil industry, but certainly know business, and what to do when it come's to covering your ass, and having a clear understanding of law.
Don't worry, AAP, I'm sure we'll have all learned our lesson and this certainly will never happen again, not in a million years.
Their lies and ineptitude to make money for their stockholders just doesn't stop. I wonder why the hell they stopped testing that new cap? What the hell is wrong now? They are a full scale world class nightmare!
Howdo Demi....blocked me blog as I'm now a driving instructor and the DSA doesn't take kindly to instructors taking the piss out of students - and me being me....
I'll probably start a fresh blog sometime but, for now, I'm hanging around MMA instead.
Maximus is cool. He had the chop lately but doesn't seem to realise as he still wants to shag anything that moves.

Then there was this major oil spill on Alaska's North Slope in 2006.
BP outfit is to the oil industry what that barefoot bandit punk is to civilized society -- a serial-offending menace. It ought to be put out business permanently.
Demeur
Great Find on this story. I didn't hear anything about it.
BP already is skipping payments for the Gulf workers. No surprise not a peep has been heard from the Great Appeaser. What the hell is he waiting for...
