Bridge collapses in Washington state.
Semi hits structural component and a large section ends up in the river below. Just happened to be one of those designs were if one component fails then they all do. The bridge was built in 1955 so it was reaching the end of it's lifespan.
War on terror redefined
We've had a war on poverty, a war on drugs a war on childhood obesity and now wars on a state of mind? How about a war on anxiety? Oh that's right they have pills for that. Never mind.
Orders for U.S. Durable Goods increase more than Forecast
(If you believe this I have a bridge to sell you)
In the second half of 2013, a faster expansion will probably give companies reason to spend more, supporting producers. Home construction is picking up, and automakers are boosting output.
The article goes on to state that had it not been for air plane orders the numbers would have been on the minus side.
(Now let's think for a minute. Who buys airplane? Wouldn't be governments now would it? Just remember that the next round of cuts to the poor. And you just know they want to ship these jobs overseas to China.)
Ben Bernanke tells everybody to buy stocks
The markets' reaction was to drop 93 points as of this writing. So much for the phrase "I'm from the government I'm here to help". Oh good I see oil is down which may mean lower gas prices in the coming weeks if they don't artificially pump it up again.
Bank fails later if I think about it.
UPDATE: No banks failed this week so carry on.

The folks that went in with the bridge sure got lucky. I've been over many bridges much older. A few so narrow that two 18 wheelers could hardy squeeze by each other without damage to the mirrors.
".....And you just know they want to ship these jobs overseas to China......"
Well, if the deeply stupid Caucasoids in North America would stop buying product made in China, we in the 1% would be unable to ship your jobs over there.
If you idiot 99%-ers would buy American, we'd keep your jobs here!
You've no one to blame but your greedy selves!
Typical 99%-er:
"Why should I pay 20 bucks for a Union Made t-shirt made here in North America, when I can pay 5 dollars for the same t-shirt made in China?"
We in the 1% make the exact same amount of profit independent of where it's made. We make 2 bucks if we make it in North America and sell it for 20. We make 2 bucks if we make it in China and sell it for 5. We don't care where we make these products, but you ignorant 99%-ers seem to care a great deal!
china is now outsourcing to vietnam and india.
it's all bullshit because international borders are a tool of the military industrial complex.
billy pilgrim pronounced,
".....it's all bullshit because international borders are a tool of the military industrial complex......"
Not the longest undefended border in the world surely?
The "49th"? Which Military Industrial Complex is responsible for that?
Dearest BBC?
Why do you have "Comment Moderation" enabled on your now private, and very much elite, blog?
Do you not trust what your own invited 'friends'?
I would think this to be rather insulting to them. Then again, what do I know?
Hi, Demeur. Looks like you have picked up some trash. Makes BBC look mild and moderate. Billy, you are slipping. You going to let someone steal your reputation?
At $3.80/gallon where I am, I'm glad to see gas prices are going down somewhere. A few days before the next round of price increases, the price will probably go down here too.
Demeur, you should get out your can of Trollicide and do the right thing.
There's over 60,000 of these old bridges in the U.S. so expect more collapses.
Why buy American? Because the shirt will last more than a couple of washings.
Okay Pilgram we're sending over some communist chinese to live at your place. You won't mind. They need the bed space.
Fodder no he just ignores them anymore. It's the right thing to do.
Gas is over $4 here so I'm hopeful. Trollicide? Only use natural ingredients on this blog. Is that made by Monsanto? Forget it.
