From the Brad Blog
Some time back one Sibel Edmonds an FBI translator noticed that what she was translating were criminal acts by the Turkish government involving several sitting U.S. Congressmen. She was fired and gagged for several years by the Bush administration. The last time I checked criminal acts are not covered by the State Secrets Act or any other Executive priviledge.
So break out the popcorn and go have a read. But here's a little tease before you go:
The exclusive interview lays out the details of what can be described as nothing short of a national security cancer that has metastasized throughout the U.S. government, to the covert monetary, military, and strategic intelligence benefit of our allies and enemies alike.
Hat tip to Brad Friedman for all his hard work on this

Another one bites the dust

Mike Duvall
Another "family values" republican resigns for telling another assemblyman that he was having an affair with two different lobbyist women at the same time. When called out on it he says it was all a lie. If that were the case why would you give graphic details to a coworker and get caught on tape? Unless he's a pathelogical liar most guys I've worked with only disclose such info when it's true. And at some point you'll usually catch them hanging with their booty call at a party or club.
Now don't get me wrong I could care less what somebody does in their private life but for these guys to claim to be morally superior to the rest of us mere mortals and then do something like this, then I say the penalties should be double the standard.

Sibel Edmonds
Some time ago a translator for the FBI was fired. With the deluge of information coming out of the middle east after 911 Sibel Edmonds was one of the many translators who was able to translate several of the arabic languages. When she was asked to change what she had translated she refused and was terminated. The FBI labeled her a trouble maker yet in a review of her claims the information she provided about coruption within the agency proved true and not just about her translations. The Justice Department (remember this was under Ashcroft) put a gag order on her stating "state secrets". She was kept muzzled until a law suit by Ohio congressional candidate John Krikorian against Jean Schmit (R) Ohio (you might remember Mean Jean saying that John Murtha a decorated marine was a coward) required Edmonds to testify. Seems Jean may have been taking bribes from the Turkish government or so the law suit says. At any rate Sibel was able to testify during a six hour deposition on Saturday and from the beginning and from what can be gathered she spilled the beans on the Justice Department, the FBI, Dennis Hasert and a bunch of others.
I don't know about now but had this happened several years ago a whole bunch of people would be doing life in prison or worse. Remember when the Rosenbergs were put to death for revealing nuclear secrets? Well this involves the same thing only on a higher level. A summary of the deposition should be up some time later today.
A big hat tip to Ornery bastard and The Brad Blog for the news dump. To see a 10 minute clip pop over to THE BRAD BLOG

These guys just can't keep it in their pants

Another (this time former) republican senator gets exposed in an affair. It would be bad enough that he got caught but he's another one of those "moral values" type bible thumpers out of the C street bordello. Good ole boy Chip Pickering former republican senator from Mississippi lost all the way around except financially (that is until his wife finishes off his bank account). His mistress gives him an ultimadum either quit the senate or the party's over. He quits, his wife divorces him and the relationship seems to be over with the mistress. So what does an ex senator do? He gets a job as a lobbist for a cell phone company that he had ties to in Mississippi.
For those of you who aren't familiar with C street it's a building and a rather strange form of Christianity that goes along with it. Much like a YMCA for senators but with a twist. Their brand of Christianity puts their members above the law. They seem to have this idea that they are the chosen ones and everyone else be damned. They even hold Hitler in high esteem. Does this sound familiar? Do the white supremicists of Northern Idaho come to mind? All activity from this club is supposed to be held in high secrecy.
And this is the same club who's member include Ensign and Sanford.
Geez guys wouldn't it just be cheaper to just hire a call girl?
Update: SW Anderson corrects me on this. Pickering was a memebr of the house not senate. I guess this is equal opportunity philandering as far as the congress is concerned.

This couldn't happen to a better guy
Democrats want to start a criminal probe into all the laws Bush has violated over the last eight years.
Bush crimes
I guess this answers my question about a president being convicted after serving a term. Maybe he'll have another term to serve - behind bars. I can hope can't I.

$25 million road to nowhere
There seems to be a lot of news items sneeking out from Friday that got covered up with the big bailout. Remember the bridge to nowhere? Well Friday they opened the road to a bridge that's not there. Sarah "I don't like porkbarrel" Palin was against the bridge to nowhere but that was before she was for it. She still accepted around 1/2 the $400 million of which $25 million was spent on a gravel road leading to the bridge that wasn't built.

Albert Stanley - who?
Albert Stanley was the head of KBR appointed by our very own Oil Can Dick Cheney has now been indicted for bribery charges on Friday. The article goes on to state that Cheney knew nothing of the actions of Stanley. I call bull shit on this. Stanley worked for Cheney and to say you don't know what's going on in your own company. Should we call this the Enron defense?
And you wonder why this country's broke
UPDATE: A judge has ordered Cheney not to destroy any documents from his time as vice president.

Can we get an arrest warrant on her?
Sarah Palin is refusing to respond to a subpoena for her testimony in the troopergate investigation. Thinks she's above the law
We don't need these slimes in the white house.

Can you say 'train wreck'?
Sarah Palin's seventeen year old unmarried daughter is five months pregnant! Oh religious right is not going to look kindly on this news. How's that vetting process going guys?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080901/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_palin_daughter;_ylt=Aj1X0I_zS_miT.fBBcM1Am.s0NUE
The shame! Didn't this mother teach her daughter to keep her legs closed until she was married? Shows you the character of this woman. And you want her to be vice president? I think not.

McBush

Not much to post in the last few days. Russia is going to do what Russia will do in Georgia and there's nothing Bush can do to stop them. The news seems to try and justify Bushs' blustering which might have been remotely justifyiable had it not been for the fact that citizens of South Ossetia the bulk of which have Russian citizenship had voted back in the early 90s to side with Russia creating their own government.
But I digress, this is about McCain or McNasty or McSame or McLame or McShame or any of the other variations out there. The most recent is McBush. I like that one because if you do a comparison of the two you come up with just about the same guy. A real flip flopper who when confronted with the facts and failing to spout the party line blames the messenger, the messenger's dog, liberals, democrats, communists, homos, or even people who haven't been in power for seven years or longer.
Bush
Born with a silver spoon in his mouth his family background dates back to Prescot Bush who during WWII had business with German steel companies that supported the German war machine. Never tried or convicted of this crime the assets of this criminal act were sold and kept in the family for future generations. George the younger went to Yale. Wonder how daddy got him in there? Must have been his connections with alumni members of the Skull and Bones Club one of those secret societies who main purpose is to promote each other for higher office. George the lesser gets into the Guard after college even though there's an 18 month waiting list for us underlings. He liked it so much he didn't bother to show up for his duty in Alabama. He was too busy campaigning for a politician at the time. When it was time to show up for an annual physical required to be able to fly he didn't bother with that either. So now you know why people now call him AWOL.
McBush
Son and grandson of two navy admirils John the III went to the Naval Academy. He didn't seem to fare as well graduating fifth from the last of his class. McBush the younger crashed two aircraft even before going to Vietnam. One incident involved McBush doing a "wet" start of the aircraft. That causing an explosive noise much like a kid causing his car to backfire only on a grander scale. Here's a video of the event:
McBush on the Forrestal
You might notice that McBush won't release his navy record about this. All of the navy records have been scrubbed clean about this incident. Wonder if there's any shipmates willing to give an account of that day.
So if you think Bush has done a great job of screwing up our country just imagine what this idiot could do. Two aircraft and one aircraft carrier and 131 are dead at the hands of this clown.

We don't care about the facts you're still guilty
As I said in an earlier post. Our exemplary judicial system run by Bush cronies has not a clue about a fair and balanced legal system. Oh did I say fair and balanced? Yeah fair and balanced like Faux News as long as you're not actually looking for the truth. This reminds me of a bad western where the 'hangin judge' comes to town and for the blood thirsty town folk to have their gallows celebration complete with refreshments and parasols for the ladies. Whiskey all around boys there's gunna be a hangin. Thought the guy was innocent? Oh the verdict doesn't matter they'll just hang em anyway. They're just towel heads ya know so they all must be terrorists. All related to Bin Ladin you know.
Gitmo justice
Ah yes and they must get this started before the elections. Notice how republicans indicted won't have their trials until next year. How convienient. And you can get away with an act of treason (outing a CIA operative) and nothing happens.

Bush wacked amend. 2
Second amendment
The right to bear arms - The Bush administration like this one so much that they decided to sell arms to both the Suunis and Shea in southern Iraq.
Then there's Mary Lou McFate aka Mary Lou Sapone (her married name). As McFate she wrote letters on behalf of gun control groups. As Sapone she listed hobbies such as hunting, trapping, fishing and shooting sports. Basically she was a paid mole for the NRA. I'll bet she votes republican (just a guess). She was expelled as a board member of a nonviolence group last week and is expected to be expelled from another today. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080808/ap_on_re_us/nra_mole_1
In all honesty I'm not against guns but I think it's a responsibility of the NRA to train all gun owners in gun safety. Some type of gun safety certificate should be required whether from the NRA or other qualified company. It just makes sense. Too many kids have been killed playing with guns.

Bush wacked
Wow, Wayne asked me if I could make a list of the Bush transgressions. I'd like to but I don't know if there's enough room on the server to hold that much information. So I'll give a basic summary using our constitution and divide it into the amendments that this misadministration has violated. Let's try just 3 or 4 at a shot lest this turn into something as long as War and Peace
First Amendment - freedom of religion - prohibiting establishment of a religion over another.
That is of course unless you're a Muslim in which case you are a suspect terrorist until proven otherwise. Cat Stevens was denied entry into the U.S. because he had converted.
We don't hold one religeon over another unless you're a televangelist making big donations and parrot the party lines. Pat Robertson calling for the assination of Hugo Chavez (How Christian of you Pat). And after elected Bush and Co referred to them (the religious right) as "wakos".
Freedom of speech
Unless of course you're wearing a T shirt with any arabic lettering. "We will not be silent" in english and arabic got one passenger a seat at the back of the plane and he had to cover the message.
Wearing a support our troops T shirt got Cindy Shean removed and arrested from an event in DC even though she was there as a guest of a Senator.
Free speech zones- special areas set up for protesters far away from the main event.
Freedom of the Press
Don't be black at a McCain rally even if you're from the press. That will get you removed as well as anyone standing up for you.
Not to forget CBS editing important parts of reportage because it might embarrass McCain.
Freedom of Assembly
As long as it's not on a public road leading to the Bush compound in Crawford Texas.
Freedon of Petition
Unless you are the state of California wanting to make environmental standards higher than the national average. The EPA now run by Bush cronies won't let you.
Wow this is really starting to get long and I've only done a brief sumary of one amendment. Think I'll change this and only do one amendment per day. As this is just an off the top of my head piece I think my head might explode. Now if I can just find the music to go with it - Ooooo that smell.

More republican hypocracy
You remember Larry Craig that wonderful family values anti homosexual senator who got caught trying to solicit sex in a mens restroom at the airport. Well now we have a conservative judge, appointed by Reagan so you know he's republican, having to remove himself from the bench because his personnal website contains some pornography. The case he's hearing is about pornography. And if you think this is some isolated example of republican hypocracy just google "republican sex scandals" and see what comes up (no pun intended). This holier than thou party has more skeletons in their closet than a halloween party on Friday the thirteenth. Needless to say I hate hypocrites.

Once again CNN gets it wrong
The original report that actually aired on 60 minutes a few years back mentioned that cronies in the White House changed the reports on global warming. These cronies had no scientific background but took it upon themselves to censor any information they felt would have negative effects on corporate america.
The CNN header for this story makes it sound like it was NASA who misled the public. "NASA misled on global warming". Wrong guys it was Bush and his cronies who misled as they always have.
Republican interferance
Now according to the scientist from the 60 Minutes report the clock is ticking. We have about a ten year window to really do something about climate change before it's too late. And as usual our wonderful elected leaders are bringing out the fiddle so they can play while the planet burns.
Does Nero come to mind?

And on and on and on
This is just too amazing to wrap ones brain around. The party of "Family Values" gets caught again doing anything but. I could understand one or two or even three cases of indescretions among any group or organizations but this is getting rediculous.
Nothing like being: Your own worst enemy
But the real kicker here is that this is one the guys who went after Bill Clinton after his fling. Wonder if divorce is in the near future for this guy and with three kids the support will be a killer.
