Welcome to Hell

Geez it was 85 when I went to bed last night. I don't think it dropped below 80 and it's already 82 as I write this. We in the North West are not used to such temps. If it gets much above 75 for any length of time the whiners come out and wonder when the rain will come back and talk about how the lawns are turning brown. The worst part is they say it may get to 101 around here. Two choices either head for the store with AC or climb in the fridge. This is the one time I'm glad I'm not working because nine times out of ten we'd land up doing a roof. That reminds me of one of the most dangerous jobs I've ever done. One O one may seem like heat but some years back we were removing insulation from some live steam lines in a confined space. The temps were so high it would melt your rubber boots it you touched a pipe. We started out by going "in the hole" as we call it at ten and fifteen minute intervals with a two man rotation. We adjusted to the heat and made it to a 30 to 45 minute rotation. When we finished the very first hole the general contractor went in and measured the temp...... 365 degrees! So if you notice I get flakey at times I guess you'll know why now. My brain was fried years ago I just didn't realize it.

A 7-11 Christmas

I know I posted this before so consider this a rerun. They sure are running a lot of them on TV these days. I thought I'd add this to my Christmas email because I'm not sending out cards. It's been so crappy here I haven't been out for nearly two weeks other than a walk to the nearest 7-11 for coffee. I cleaned off part of the drive. It was an inch of ice and three to four inches of compact snow and now I here we're going to get another 2" to 6" more. For joy for joy. The roads are mush on top of ice and non of the parking lots are were plowed or shoveled. Tried to go to the bank down the road yesterday only to find that they all went home early and it was closed. So if we get more than an inch or two it looks like I'll be doing the Xmas shopping at the 7-11. I wonder if they sell turkeys?

Wild weather same old politics

Strange net connection last night. A bit breezy out here. Tried to post but my computer kept crashing by itself even after a system check. Can only pin it on power fluctuations. Yea everythings on surge protection but that doesn't protect against power drops.

On politics nothing seems to change. Screw the poor and middle class and give to the rich, but then I believe in a type of karma. What goes around comes around maybe not now but in the near future. Look at Afganistan. We supported who for so many years when they were fighting the Soviet Union only to kick them to the curb when the Soviets left? That was a war of principles because Afganistan had/has no major resources to exploit. And now who has returned to bite us in the rear. Once they were freedom fighters now they are terrorists. It's all about labels and a power grab. Is this much different than labeling the Jews as evil ones prior to WWII only this time the labeled ones have guns and are fighting back. The senseless waste of human life for political ideologies.

There is a call for more work stoppages. I haven't checked into it yet but I believe it's scheduled for Nov 2 and the 6th by the truckers. Have to do some more digging on this. Just heard a mention on Air America by a caller on this. Tune in later for more on this. Got to run now work calls.
