The Friday Beaver has been busy

Is it Friday already?

I don't know why they say busy as a beaver. Have you ever seen a beaver at work? Oops let me rephrase that. Have you ever seen a beaver actually building a dam? I've never even seen beavers in the wild as they must work the night shift doing the dirty deeds to trees at night when no one's around.

This week sure went by fast and much was done on my behalf but not for my own benefit other than a pay check.

Bank fails later.

Dirty deeds done dirt cheap.

Fridays seem to come awful quick. Funny but I have seen many beev dams being built and they are very busy.

They are protected here but when they build a dam and cause damage or show up in the wrong place you find them doing the back float.

I've watched beavers working, they are not fast but they are study workers, often working from daylight to dark.

When I was stationed at an Air Force base in Maine, beavers regularly dammed a creek and in springtime cause a road that ran inside the base perimeter to flood.

I saw the critters at work a couple of times in the daytime. They're industrious and determined. The base civil engineers and security police took their dams apart and tried to run them off. They weren't allowed to kill the beavers, though.

It was a lot like the Vietnam War: there was no winning it, just a matter of keeping the other side from taking over.
