Blue Monday

Happy Blue Monday? Am I being flippant? Maybe. This is said to be the most depressing day of the year. Any takers? Let me know how your day went in comments.

I was all set to do some errands today and then remembered that this is

Martin Luther King Day
Maybe that ties together perfectly with current events: An attempt on a congresswoman's life, Blue Monday and MLK Day. We've had two black Americas professing hope and change overshadowed by violence and hate. So I guess it is Blue Monday after all. They say nothing lasts forever and I hope that holds true for hard times but jeez it's sure taking a long time to get over this dark cloud. Me, I'm a realist. I always assume things will go wrong and plan accordingly. Maybe that's what's kept me alive for the last 20 years.

It's a bluesy day, any way you look at it. Blue Monday, Stormy Monday Blues, Rainy Days and Mondays Always Get Me Down -- er, scratch that last one.

Who in the hell decided it was the most depressing day of the year? I don't pay any attention to the fact that it is MLK day when it is. It's history, fuck it, but we did get into it in the comments on my blog.

My day went fine, thank you very much.

It's perfect, keep the monkeys distracted starting with new years and all the holidays and 'important people' from the past right up to christmas and you keep them so busy they're not getting today's problems fixed.

Fuck MLK day, it was just another day.

Stu since I can't comment on your blog (I thought they got rid of the Nazis over there) I'll just say Blue back at you. I'm more of a BB King fan.

Tom I thought Monday Monday was so good to me... oh never mind.

Billy the only reason I brought it up was that everything was closed except the malls and I don't need to go there anymore.

I can appreciate why someone would deem any Monday in January depressing in this latitude. Januaries are hard times even when the economy is booming.

If you gather from my remarks that I hate winter, put a gold star by your name. :)

Well I went for a bike ride in the morning. Yeah it was 7'F and I couldn't ride the trails, but the Sun was shining and I enjoyed it nonetheless. Not much beats the blues better than coughing up a lung in frigid temperatures.

I have more trouble with Mondays in December.

One of my kids' friends unfriended Monday on Facebook. I had to chuckle.
