Monkeys with guns

Here we go again
"Violence in north Kosovo draws EU warning"

And like two kids fighting in the back seat on the family vacation we have:
"Filipinos will defend territory" states their president.
So they're going to buy more war ships and helicopters.

Here's an idea why don't they throw Amelda Marcos' old shoe collection at them. Won't run out of amo there.

"Local groups rally aid for Somalia famine victims"
Good luck with that little venture. From my east African co worker what will happen is the food will be stolen and traded for guns. Why do you think they call them "warlords"?

And finally south of the border we have an estimated 40,000 people killed from drug related violence.
"Mexico's drug-related violence"
Sorry Jim but legalizing marijuana isn't going to do it.
The cartels control the trafficking of drugs from South America to the US, a business that is worth an estimated $13bn (£9bn) a year. Their power grew as the US stepped up anti-narcotics operations in the Caribbean and Florida. A US state department report estimated that as much as 90% of all cocaine consumed in the US comes via Mexico.
This is about money, greed and power. The cartels make money. The arms dealers make money. The government agencies make money. Security firms selling countermeasures make money. And we get caught in the crossfire. Anybody know a cocaine addict who's kicked the habit? Not too many. If you made it legal and put a high tax on it then they'd just sell cheaper stuff to compete.

You're still gonna lower the death toll if you legalize all those goodies. Plus, it's not as if we don't have the resources to treat addiction like the health, not crime, issue that it is - oh shit, I forgot about all those drones we need for Death From Above and helping out evil corporations, I mean, Job Creators. Nevermind. I'm going back to my weed.

Nothing is going to change, except for the worse, so get your guns of choice and stock up on ammo.

And about ten pounds of powder. And if you're into weed, some seeds.

Demeur, your assessment of our bankrupt and bankrupting drug policy, and of Mexico, is right, but your remedy is another matter. Cocaine as a recreational drug is more dangerous than "Reefer Madness" true believers think marijuana is. That's not a moral judgment, it's a medical fact.

Randal, I'm not sure we have the resources to medically and psychologically treat all the hard core addicts in America. I think if we were to take 75 percent of the cost of our so-called war on drugs and use that to develop the resources, in a generation or so we might have the resources.

We definitely need more basic medical research on the genesis of addiction-prone people and how best to prevent the addiction-prone individual from giving his or her life over to substance addictions.

It would be best if we could get that going before the imprisonment industry gets any bigger and gains any more political clout.

I'm beginning to think that all the coke users are in congress. They get one wild ass idea every twenty minutes and try to make a bill out of it.
