Finally won something. Went to the annual turkey raffle at the hall last night and won a gift card. The dinner wasn't bad either. Prime rib, shrimp and chicken with salad was the main course with cake. I though there was a recession on. There is a lot of highway projects going on so I guess that's where they got their funds for the dinner bash. Funny how I was sitting there with a couple of guys who were in maximum shape bragging about lifting weights and which gym is the best. Thought to myself, I can just see them in about 20 or 30 years when their bodies are worn out and all they can talk about are the memories of what they did. Then there was one gal there bitching about being on a job that wasn't full scale. She also bitched when they put her on an easy job and wouldn't let her run some dangerous equipment. I'm thinking, you idiot you make one mistake with some machines and they'll take your leg right off. I've seen the best of workers get hurt with just one slip up. There are some machines that should not be operated by anyone who weighs less then say 185 lbs. and is in good shape. Come to think of it I've worked with this gal and had to redo most of her work. I think you know the type.

The dinner sounds good even though I don't eat much. It seems that many don't know there is a recession, I guess that is what keeps things going.

That's great, Turkey raffles are excellent, at least here most everyone wins something.
I used to run 300 pound rollers and a tough broad was on the machine next to me and got her hair caught in the roller. Ripped it right out by the roots and she just held her head and moaned.
When I was growing up, the little community churches all had Fowl suppers, later changed to Fall suppers as fund raisers. Fried chicken, fixings and lots of pie. I miss those days.
As far as these Guy's that work themselves at the gym's and wearing out one's body, make's me think of how some worker's I see that senselessly work themselves to death, when they dont need to, to get the same result's, utilizing equipment, and such. I see so many of these folk's that are into more heavy labour type job's in the morning slamming down these energy drink's to pump themselves up, which I feel these drinx will be found to have a serious toll longterm on the body in a few year's from now. And the competition and desperation for just mediocre work has gotten incredible. That's why even though I never been with a union ... I am 110% for them ... I was in the printing inustry for year's in Texas, which was largely non union in this state. I was damn good at my job too, and known for it ... so a couple time's I had to give my two week's notice to my employer, because I had offer's from competitor's ... I was married to no company.
The thing about female gender in the workplace has became such a serious issue, anyone know's how I am very pro right's for especially working women, and having 3 daughter's who all have profession's and degree's that I raised, but we have became insane over some of this, not looking at thing's rationally, as you pointed out about needing to be a specific weight to operate certain machinery, etc. Our pop culture herd mentality thinking is very irrational on some of this. One day I was watching a Cowboys game (NFL) ... and thought .... Wow! how popular it would be if I could coach the Cowboys and put a couple a couple chix on as linebacker's that weighed 130 pound's each. I thought it would be very fashionable ... but more importante to show a point. :)
